WHY PORCELAIN SLABS
Why choose porcelain slabs for a fireplace
A fireplace wall is the focal point of the room. Porcelain slabs cover it in a few large pieces, so the veining reads as one continuous surface instead of a grid of tiles.
Made for the fireplace wall
Porcelain is fired at very high temperatures and does not burn. We install it to the clearances your fireplace or insert manufacturer specifies.
Few seams, floor to ceiling
Slabs up to 126″ × 63″ cover most fireplace walls in a few pieces, with the seams planned around the firebox.
The marble look
Calacatta, Taj Mahal and Macchia Vecchia looks without the etching and staining of real marble.
Room for the TV and mantel
We plan the slab layout, seams and cutouts around TVs, wiring and mantels before anything is cut.

Frequently asked questions
Can porcelain be used around a fireplace?
Yes. Porcelain is fired at very high temperatures and does not burn. We install it to the clearances your fireplace or insert manufacturer specifies.
Can you mount a TV on a porcelain fireplace wall?
Yes. Tell us the TV size and where the wiring runs before templating, and we plan the seams and cutouts around it.
How many seams will my fireplace wall have?
It depends on the height and width of the wall. We show you the seam and vein layout before cutting.
Can porcelain go over an existing brick or stone fireplace?
Sometimes. It depends on the condition and flatness of the surface. We check when we template and tell you if anything needs to be removed or prepared first.
Do porcelain fireplace surrounds need sealing?
No. Porcelain is non-porous, so there is no sealer to apply or maintain.
How long does installation take?
Installation usually takes place about a week after templating.
